If you’re looking for funny stuff this time, you’re not gonna find it here. Go on and fold those clothes that are probably still in the dryer or clean out that toilet instead.
This is some serious crap for me here. And this will be one of the rare times I’m serious.
So, mark it down in your little book if you have that little book that everybody tells everybody else to be marking stuff down in.
When I started doing this blog thing, I made a promise to myself about it. I promised myself I will always strive to make whoever is reading it, feel as if we were sitting somewhere and I was talking to them.
Either one on one or in a group. But that I was talking to them.
That’s why there’s cursing. That’s why there’s words I throw in just because I think they go in that particular spot. That’s why there’s some ungrammatical crap.
It’s me. Just me and you.
On my Facebook wall the other day, I posted this:
“There is nothing better than having a warped sense of humor and knowing so many of y’all get it and like me in spite of myself. God, I love you people.”
I really mean that crap.
It’s huge for me when someone says something I did or said made them laugh. Or feel better. Or even shake their head in utter bewilderment.
It’s a high for me. But I don’t really strive for that to happen. I like it better when it just does.
It is huge for me when someone “gets me” and yes, YOU PEOPLE GET ME.
Huge. Stuff. For. Me.
So, imagine my shock when a fellow blogger posts on her site that I am one of 5 bloggers she is bestowing a little award upon.
The Liebster Blog Award.
Do I know what it means? Uh, hell no. Do I care? Uh, well…yeah, kinda.
I contacted Maggie at Accidentally By Design who awarded this to me, to find out what the hell this is what the hell do I do with it.
Here’s what I discovered.
It is bestowed upon rising bloggers who have less than 200 followers.
I’ll take that. Amen, sister…I’ll take it.
Here’s what she said in our back and forth emails:
“I love reading your blog. You say it like it is. I am SO glad to have found YOU. Carrie, you are a great writer. It won’t be long until you’re big.”
That right there is some serious shit for a girl who simply wanted to write. But will never call herself a writer because she uses the wrong words, ain’t got a clue how to use a semi-colon and is afraid someone might call her stupid for wanting to do it.
That right there, friends…is my 5-Hour Energy via email.
I’m not sure Maggie really knows just how much her words mean to me and the big burst of love my heart fluttered with when I saw my name on her list.
The next step to receiving this little jewel is to pass it on. To five other rising bloggers (who I read) with less than 200 followers.
And encourage you to visit them.
I have been reading most of these since I’ve been blogging. And they have pushed me on through and have supported me with emails and comments when I figured it was stupid to be doing this because, well…I don’t know why. It was just stupid.
They all have showed me they care. For months now.
I can’t include Maggie in this list because she gave it to me. But I would if I could. And several others I read daily but they don’t fall in the “passing it on” requirements.
I’m passing The Liebster Award to:
1. Karyn at An Observant Mind
She’s brilliant. A rare find with the kindness and compassion you treasure when you discover it. And she’s way over in Australia as well as in my heart. (Awww…)
2. Felicia at The New Black
A modern-day fashionista. She can take what you think is the worst of the worst in your closet and make it look hot. She’ll make you re-think your “throw-aways.” She’s just down the road from me in Austin. Sweeet!
3. Maren at From Cow to Wow
A precious soul sharing her heart and her journey of her wins at losing weight. Her discipline and willingness to stick with it is motivating. She’s in Norway. Too far for me to hug, but I do hope to one day…
4. Jennifer at Chaos Wrapped in Chocolate Covered Grins
A seriously proud mom of some seriously cute cuties. Her baby girl is a redhead and her little boy is a witty gem! She’s a strong military wife living in New Jersey who might one day live in Austin. YAY ME!
5. Mark at Yelling Near You
His quirky outlook and take on things continuously make me smile. He has an eye for the unusual and I’m sure that’s why we click. If I’m ever in Vancouver, British Columbia…our first beer is on me.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it many more times, but thank you for getting me.
Thank you for getting me.
Thank you, thank you for getting me.
